Labyrinth Ministry

CCC welcomes all to the labyrinth! Our beautiful outdoor labyrinth is open for individual walking from sunrise until sunset unless a group event has been scheduled. Labyrinth events at CCC usually coincide with celebrations of the solstices and equinoxes. The Winter Solstice walk is a yearly highlight of our Advent season. It is held inside the candlelit Sanctuary, where we walk our canvas labyrinth to the accompaniment of meditative music. The labyrinth is also used for special retreats during the year.

We consider our outdoor and canvas labyrinths to be sacred space. There is no right or wrong way to walk the labyrinth. However, we have found the Christian tradition of the fourfold path of prayer (the four R's) to be effective when walking. The fourfold path comprises 1) stopping at the entrance to the labyrinth to Remember who you are in the present moment, 2) Releasing concerns as you walk in, 3) Receiving blessings from your Divine Source in the center and 4) Returning to the world with what you have received.

In honor of the power of prayer we evoke when we walk the labyrinth, you are invited to leave a small stone at the entry under the bell. Doing this will not only be a sign that we are praying together, but to those who do not belong to our community and come to our labyrinth to pray, it will be a sign that they are not walking alone. The subtle energy of prayer becomes exponential when we pray together.

Autumnal Equinox Celebration

Mark your calendars for a celebration of the Autumnal Equinox on Sunday, September 22nd starting at 4:00 p.m. We will have a ceremony on the labyrinth and then come up to the lawn for a pot luck (bring-your-own) picnic. Invite your friends; all are welcome. Questions? Email Gailya.
