CCC offers three scheduled worship services:
8:30 a.m. ~ Contemplative Sunday Service The 8:30 service meets in person in a circular forum in the Seminar Room and includes short meditations and a message based on spiritual readings from ancient and contemporary spiritual poets and writers, followed by a spirited discussion on the message. |
10:00 a.m. ~ Celebratory Sunday Service
You are invited to join our 10:00 a.m. in person or via Zoom. You may join the 10:00 a.m. service on Zoom by clicking here. This joyful, inspirational service includes readings ~ both from scripture and from our favorite poets, a message by the minister, congregational singing supported by our music director Scott DeTurk on the piano, and musical offerings from Scott's talented young students whom he often brings to CCC to sing for us. Children are welcome and are given activity bags to help them enjoy and take part in the service. Coffee and tea and light snacks are offered before and after the service. |
Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month at both services.
All are welcome to partake.

Taize ~ third Sunday of the month, at 5:00 in the evening. The service is held in the Seminar Room. The decision as to whether to continue to offer the service via Zoom has not yet been made. Watch this space. The service is led by cantor David Long and his wife flutist Carolyn Long. Along with the simple but spirit-deepening chants, brief readings of scripture or poetry,
a time of silent reflection, and a time to offer prayers for those in need are woven into the service. Folks may email David to be put on the email list to receive the monthly program of Taize chants and the Zoom link. |
A brief history of Taizé worship:
Taizé, an ecumenical community in rural France, was formed in the turbulent times of World War II. The monks there had undertaken to shelter and care for those most in need: children and Jewish refugees, and after peace came, German prisoners of war. In seeking to provide spiritual nourishment for such a diverse congregation, the brothers developed a contemplative worship service consisting entirely of song and stillness. Over the years, many beautiful chants and songs have been composed that are directed to God, distinct from any particular religious orientation. Today, hundreds of pilgrims from all faiths make their way to Taizé each week to experience the serenity and beauty of this unique form of worship. But you do not have to make the trip to France to experience this way of worshipping! Just make your way to CCC's Seminar Room on the third Sunday of the month, where you will be welcome to sing with us, or just listen to the prayerful music.
